Motivation for Design Elements:
The crown - a symbol of Jesus as King, but not the king that the Jewish people expected. He was a servant king.
The sun - “I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations", Isaiah 42:6
The candle - a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice. Isaiah 42:3
Prison bars and the eye - to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness. Isaiah 42:7
Crown of thorns and streak of blood - but he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5
